Martin Chuzzlewit
Original title: Martin Chuzzlewit
Synopsis
Martin Chuzzlewit's writing of Life and Adventures was the result of a trip to the United States that Dickens undertook in 1842, a disappointing journey, in which the English author would discover the enormous distance between the ideals that proclaimed and defended American citizens and their daily conduct. Among other things, Dickens was anonymous about the violent manner in which conflicts were usually resolved, as well as the derogatory treatment of outsiders.
