Synopsis
After publishing an immense number of stories, Chéjov decided to write a novel, but not a traditional one but a police one, perhaps the first in Russia. The title was A Hunting Drama and was published for deliveries in a newspaper. In the form of a book he appeared in 1923. For his readers it was, for several reasons, a surprise. That, Chéjov's first novel, reveals to us a different writer, different from the one that was before and also the one that was later. It shows us a Russia in darkness, an evil spirituality, an atmosphere of latrine and a brutal subbackground. His characters and circumstances are made of delusions, cruelty, complex frustrations.
