A day of cholera
Original title: Un día de cólera
Synopsis
This story is neither fiction nor history book. Nor does it have a specific protagonist, as there were countless men and women involved in the events of 2 May 1808 in Madrid. Heroes and cowards, victims and executioners, history retained the names of many of them: the relations of the dead and the wounded, the military reports, the memoirs written by major or secondary actors of the tragedy, provide rigorous data for the historian and limit the imagination of the novelist. How many people and places appear here are authentic, as are the narrated events and many of the words that are spoken.
