Synopsis
A wealthy woman hires the private investigator Kinsey Millhone to act as an intermediary and to get someone else, possibly a newly released prisoner, a certain amount of money. However, when he has already completed the assignment, and even has already paid for it, Kinsey begins to discover that, perhaps, nothing is what it seemed. It does not begin to investigate more about the mysterious woman, it must address another matter: Pete Wolinsky's widow, the leading detective of W of whiskey, asks her for help with some bureaucratic paperwork; among the documents, Kinsey finds a list of apparently incomprehensible numbers, and will immediately want to start deciphering them.
